Here’s a link to a bunch of kids crafts. Some may suit older persons. You’ll have to look at them. I looked for crafts for Alzheimer patients but everything seemed to be in a book you had to buy.

You can find some ideas and links to helpful sites for crafts that can be done with those of limited physical and/or mental status on the Disabilities page at my site, if you want to check it out:

(…look at various categories on that page, but especially the one called *Seniors & Assisted Living* and the *Miscellaneous* category )
Good luck!… and hope that gets you started at least. Most of your patients will really be able to enjoy doing things with their hands and ending up with something they’ve *made*!
P.S. I’ve also heard that Alzheimers patients can relate to music better than to normal language (both music they knew before and even having instructions/etc. “sung” to them), and also that they can relate to photography and photographs (especially ones they take themselves or are relevant to them) so perhaps you could come up with some way for them to take photos and or to make collages or other things from their photos or other images.

In fact there must be simple activities that do not demand special preparation:
Listen to music
Plant seeds indoors or out
Look at family photographs
Clean & top up the bird bath
Weed the flower bed
Fold clothes
Have a friend visit with a calm pet
Cut pictures out of greeting cards
Polish silverware
Baking / mixing
Sort objects by shape or color
Sing old songs
Go for a drive/ride
Take a walk
Reminisce about 1st day of school
Ask simple trivia questions
Make a salad
Sweep the patio
Fold towels
Have afternoon tea
this is a great site
