I’m Sorry but this answer isn’t the one you want to hear . It isn’t something you can cure .The Dr will perform test that are designed to determine what form of dementia the person might have There are things that help with the process . Namenda and aricept are pills used to treat this disease . just care for the person and let them know everything will work out . What ever you do don’t turn your back on them They need you the most at this time .

These are questions for a doctor. No one on YA is going to be able to give this person a brain scan or a medical examination.
Fruits have been shown to help prevent memory problems, including Alzheimer’s, later in life. But that’s a preventative measure – I don’t know how well it works once the person already has the disease.
For someone who has memory problems, just keeping the brain active helps slow memory loss. Do puzzles, read a lot, etc.
But there is no cure for Alzheimer’s. It is a degenerative disease, and unfortunately, it is fatal.

Well I can answer part of your question. My husbands mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last fall. Her physician told her she was going to give her four objects to remember. (orange, square, three, kentucky) for example….she asked her to repeat them back. She successfully repeated them back then after a short conversation on a different subject she asked her if she remembered being told 4 objects to remember….my mother in law couldn’t repeat any of the objects on recall. This may not be a guaranteed technique but after lab work and CT scans they came to a consensus that she had Alzheimer’s. She has been on medication since the diagnosis and has both good and bad days. As a word of advice let them stay as active as possible and be supportive….this will be extremely hard to do. Keep the faith and try to have as much patience as possible.

You can’t diagnose Alzheimer’s at home. You need professional help. Many conditions look like Alzheimer’s, but aren’t. Some of these conditions are curable, some are very dangerous if left untreated. This is not the Amateur Hour. Get help.
There is no cure for Alzheimer’s.

first of all…I’m sorry to tell you this but there is no way to “fix it”
there are several different medications for people with Alzheimer’s, however they don’t “fix it”. they help extend the persons time of having a “normal” life
here is a list of symptoms that you can watch for so that you can discuss it with the doctorhttp://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_sy…
and here is info on medication for ithttp://alzheimers.about.com/od/medicatio…

At present, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, and it requires professional diagnosis.
A selection of treatments to slow its inevitable progress, may be found in section 29 of my website, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris
Adopt these yourself, as a preventive measure.

When I spoke with my family doctor about the disease, he said the only certain way to tell is an autopsy. There are several other degenerative disorders that may cause dementia. Only a doctor can make a reasonable diagnosis.

There is no cure for Alzeimers. All you can do is keep the person comfortable and if they get really bad then they will have to go to a home.
