I got this book (Volume 1) to use with my father who has Alzheimer’s and is pretty confused most of the time. He really enjoyed the “under the hood” activity and the song titles. All the activities were very easy to follow. I did make some of them easier for my Dad as they show you how to do at the front of the book. I learned a few things about my Dad I didn’t know before. The best part was when he would remember something and I could tell it was a pleasant memory so that made me feel good. I would definitely recommend this book if you have someone with memory problems.

Great book.easy to read. Great ideas and also helps me come up with more of my own. Love the fact that it’s wire bound as it makes it easier to flip and keep the page open where you want it.

This book has been, hands down, the best investment I’ve made in an Alzheimer’s activity book. I’m always looking for new activities to do with my Mom who has Alzheimer’s and this is one book I’ve found that makes good on its promises. It’s been nothing short of amazing how easily I have been able to keep my Mom’s attention and get her talking. Wish I’d had it sooner. The author talks about how each activity can be tailored to virtually ensure success. I tried it and it really does work! I highly recommend this book to others who have a loved one with Alzheimers, especially if it’s becoming harder to carry on a meaningful conversation with them.

Sunshine and Joy’s Big Book of Alzheimer’s Activities by Jill Hernandez is a great book.
The poem in the beginning of the book by John Kendrick Bangs from the Word makes a wonderful statement and introduction to the contents of this amazing book.
The variety of activities put together by the author is more than anyone working in a facility or having a loved one at home could possibly hope for.
The author’s special way of referring to persons with Alzheimer’s throughout the book is gentle and refreshing.
Each activity in this book has been thoughtfully planned out. My years of working as a therapeutic activities director would have been made easier had there been books of this caliber available.
Thanks Jill for a book from the heart and your love of a special “PAL”. C. Gale Perkins
