As we mentioned in previous articles Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder named after German physician Alois Alzheimer. Alzheimer’s destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect language communication, memory, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal. In this article, we will discuss how to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s disease with common sense approaches.

1. Reduce intake of saturated fat and trans fat
Foods that contain high levels of saturated fat and trans fat such as french fries and meat will cause the cholesterol and triglyceride to build up in the blood stream and clot up arteries resulting in difficulty in transporting oxygen to brain cells. As brain cells die off in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus, we have Alzheimer’s disease.

2. Eat your vegetables and fruits
Vegetables and fruits contain high amounts of nutrition that is vital for our body to function everyday. Nutrition deficiency such as DHEA, B vitamin complex cause hormone imbalance resulting in less testosterone for men and progesterone in woman forming the plague and tangle in the brain.

3. Eat your Fish
Cold water fish is the best choice. It contains high amounts of fatty acids Omega 3 that helps to reduce the cholesterol and triglyceride in the blood stream and strengthening our immune system by nourishing our brain as well as fighting off forming of free radical in our body including our brain.

4. Reduce intake of alcohol
Moderate drinking helps to improve circulation of blood. Excessive drinking causes cognition, brain disorders, and brain chemistry increasing the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

5. Cut extra calories
As men age, the risk of damage of brain cells caused by inflammation and oxidation increase. Study shows that low calories diet helps our body function better than normal diet.

6. Exercise
Moderate exercise helps to improve circulation of blood and increase oxygen level that is vital for nourishing our brain cells as well as guarding our brain against any memory loss.
